We’ve always been “fly”, but now we’ve got the wings to prove it.

Women are taking over on every level at Ethiopian Airlines! The airline has announced they will begin an all women’s operated flight from Addis Ababa to Bangkok.

As told in Clutch Magazine, this is what we know so far:

According to the airline, women will handle every aspect of the flight operation from the crew members and pilots onboard, to flight dispatchers, ramp operators, aviation safety and security, and air traffic controllers on the ground.

Approximately 30 percent of Ethiopian Airlines’ employees are women, and Tewolde GebreMariam, the company’s CEO, said the move only solidifies the company’s manta, “Women Empowerment for a Sustainable Growth.” 

It is a great honor for us to have competent Women Aviation Professionals at Ethiopian in every aspect of the aviation field, which portrays Ethiopian as gender responsive organization that strives to pursue its underlying stance of being an equal opportunity employer. In addition to the all-women operated flights, Ethiopian Airlines has also stepped up its amenities for new mothers on long haul flights. The carrier recently installed nursing rooms equipped with reclining chairs, breast pumps, refrigerators for the storage of breast milk.
